Lycian Coast

We have now left the Carian Coast and heading east along the Lycian Coast.

As no one came calling to sell us a boat trip to the cliff tombs we sailed out of Ekincik around 9am and we will leave that trip for next time.

It's about a four hour trip to the Fethiye Gulf, near Gocek, with lots of beautiful bays and anchorages.  Everyone raves about this area so we are looking forward to spending some time here.  Unfortunately the wind is not in our favour and we have to deal with a rolling swell the whole trip, so very unpleasant.  One good thing was I saw a jumping sword fish leap out of the water twice on our way.  We did have the lure out but would have been too big for us to handle.

It's hard work on the helm and I'm aching by the time we find our Bay.  We are spending the night at Kapi Creek.  It's very picturesque with a restaurant and two jetties.  It's doesn't take long for the area to fill up with yachts, cruisers and Gulets.

We eat dinner on the yacht and watch lots of shows on the laptop.

We both have a really good nights sleep thanks to our friends and depart Kapi Creek around 9am.  The wind forecast is not looking favourable over the next few days so we are headed for one of the marinas in Gocek.  We decide on the D Marin Port Gocek Marina, it's very new and we get a good location on one of the jetties in anticipation of the winds.  The shower is wonderful, I want to stay here forever!

We go via Tomb Bay and get some photos of the cliff tombs which are in pretty good condition considering how old they are.
There are also some amazing yachts in the area complete with helicopters and toys.

We've just seen the local news and realise there are riots in the major capital cities in Turkey, we were so unaware of any unrest and are fine and safe.

It's really incredible what the Turks have done for sailing along the coast. In the most remote locations where there are beautiful anchorages, they have managed to get the infrastructure in place for restaurants, Wi-Fi and amenities, though being a little rough and ready in some places.
