Next stop Hvar city

As we want to spend a day in Hvar city we depart our mooring early at 6pm.  The sea certainly looks different today, it’s smooth and glassy.  We see our first dolphins on our way to Hvar.  We motor into the harbour to see if there is any room but as expected its full.  We opt for a berth at the ACI Marina Palmizana  on one of the small Islands just south of Hvar and water taxis run between the marina and Hvar all day and night.
I meet Miss happy pants number 2 at reception, (it must be the in the job description) and we find a vacant berth and tie up.  There are good facilities here, including a bar, restaurant and a couple of small supermarkets and even the WI-Fi seems to work.  My eye is immediately attracted to the Moet Chandon bottles for sale; as champagne of any brand has not been easy to find I purchase 2 bottles and will enjoy them later on.

We get ready for our taxi trip to Hvar.  I have lots of washing to do and this is my first priority once I get there.  We find the laundrette and the lady there is very helpful.  We kick start three loads of washing and head for a restaurant on the main piazza for lunch.  It’s really busy with many tourists arriving and departing by large boats or buses.  Its great people watching as we enjoy our lunch of pizza and salad.  While the laundry is drying we walk around to the hardware shop as we still have a few things to buy…an hour later we have our arms full of goodies.  Somehow we manage with these bags and all the laundry and make it back to the docks for our taxi pick up.  It’s so hot I think we need a drink and we find this great bar where I could have stayed all day / night!

Cant wait to cool these down

We do some maintenance and tick off a few more things from our to do lists.  We watch as the marina fills up with cruising motor boats full of Italians.  Within an hour about 50 boats arrive and it’s party central.   They are all running from the Maestro winds again gusting up to 45Kn.  We then head up to the bar for a refreshing beer.  As we plan to leave before 8am we retrieve our cruising permit and pay our fees of 76 Euros.  We fill up with water and are ready to go.
