Turkish Delights

We motor out of Kusadasi around 7.30am with the sun on our backs which I hope is a good sign.  It's about a five our trip to our next marina at Didim.  We are heading South East and we should have some great wind for the trip but the forecast turns out to be incorrect.  Most of the trip we are heading into it however the sun is out and the temperature is warming up.

There are a lot of fish and mussel farms in the area and due to feeding and antibiotics they give the fish the water turns a murky shade of yellow and green.

We are averaging a good speed of about 7.5 knots.  We do slow down for Greg to try his new lure but we are still going to fast.  Once we are only under sail will be the best time to fish.

We see a few Turkish patrol boats, a sea plane and one brown furry something in the water but that's about it for entertainment on our trip.

We arrive at D Marin Didim at about 1pm and are blown away by the helpful guys, they jump on board and handle the lazy lines for us, with a smile.  All the service staff in Turkey are a delight to deal with.  Once we are tied up we head ashore to look around.  It's a brand new marina and wow it's really nice the best we have been to so far.  We head into to dry dock area and its unbelievable the size of the super yachts under construction, being refurbished or just sitting there.  It's the biggest lifting crane we have ever seen at a marina by far.  The money sitting here is hard to fathom, but the Turkish economy is booming.

We keep on walking and find the Yacht Club which we can use as its part of the marina.  It's has a restaurant and outdoor pool area it's really nice.   We park ourselves down for some refreshments and blogging.  It's a great place to chill out for some time and let Greg's stomach recover.  The long pizza didn't   agree with him.

I try the mezza plate for a quick bite to eat and it's a delicious.  It's five small vegetarian dishes and each one yummy served with a lovely basket of bread rolls.  Can't complain about that.

A few hours later we head back to our yacht for Ouzo time and a siesta.  It's dinner on board tonight and we start season two of Game of Thrones.

In the morning we try out the amenities and they are fantastic. It's our first shower on shore since we left Corfu.  While we wait for the laundry to be done we do some provisioning at the local shopping centre and stock up on what we need.  It's a lot cheaper here than Kusadasi so we are happy.

We fluff around for a few hours and decide to give the ancient ruins at Didim a miss.  Hopefully we will be back here as we love it.  Greg also finds the time to install the number plate off my Honda from years ago, looks great!

After refuelling we depart around 11.30am and are heading South East to Asin Limani.
